Commission a portrait in Vietnam that feels like a painting

Chân dung như họa is a guided studio portrait experience in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. We photograph the real person, then shape the light, color, costume and finishing so the final image carries the feeling of a painting.

Manifesto

When one click can generate anything, we choose to slow down.

Chân dung như họa is where photography moves closer to painting. The camera and retouching tools are used as craft instruments, not as a quick filter.

The service focuses on two strong visual languages: Vietnamese East Asian restraint and old European portrait depth. A famous painting can also be used as a reference, then transformed into a portrait made for the person in front of us.

A more narrative concept with sitting pose, low table, brush, paper, curtain and deep warm color.

Open reference

Mona Lisa and future paintings

A named painting can be discussed before booking so the team can confirm wardrobe, lighting and feasibility.

Hand and process

From screen to material.

The screen shows only part of the story. A finished portrait can be prepared for digital delivery, canvas print or framed display after consultation.

Artist behind the work

Lý Tuấn Đạt and the hand behind each portrait.

The value is not a ready-made effect. It sits in the eye, the time spent shaping the image, and the manual decisions that keep the face alive.

Artistic roots

Cultural depth is the reason this exists.

The site explains why a portrait can borrow from Vietnamese East Asian painting or a famous European masterwork while still remaining a story about the person being photographed.

Vietnamese East Asian

Reserved beauty with breathing space

Gentle lines, light fabrics, ao dai, lotus, silk feeling and calm composition help the sitter appear like a remembered presence, not an advertisement.

Old European

Chiaroscuro gives the face weight

Light is used to guide the eye, build volume and hold emotion. The face becomes the center, not just an object in good lighting.

Gạo Nâu craft

A Vietnamese brand layer, not an overpromise

Deep browns, lacquer red, eggshell ivory and restrained gold give the experience a Vietnamese luxury tone without claiming every work is a physical lacquer painting.

Every portrait holds a story

Give your parents a portrait they never had.

Some people appear mostly in document photos, old wedding pictures or quick phone snapshots. A carefully directed portrait is a way to say: I want to remember you beautifully, while there is still time to look closely.

For the first time, I saw my mother as the main character in a portrait, not the person standing behind everyone else.
